Chorus AGM 2017
On Tuesday 31 October we held our 2017 AGM, which was well attended. For those who were unable to attend, a few of the more interesting points are below:
- During the year we donated £3,500 to charity (£2,500 to Queenscourt Hospice and £1,000 to the Soup Kitchen)
- Including our April concert, Wayfarers Chorus and Men In Black performed on 24 occasions, raising in the region of £3,800 for our charity fund
- Agreement was reached that we should start our practices at 7:30pm prompt to make the most of our time
- Mention was made of the fact our Afterglows have ‘faded away’. Let’s try to get these going again and if anybody knows any tags let’s hear them
- There was a lengthy discussion about recruitment and it was generally agreed that the only really successful tactic was the ‘Learn To Sing’ course. A small working party will put together a proposal for such a course, to start in Spring 2018. It was noted that of the members present, about 14 had joined as a result of the previous course
- Roger Fieldhouse was nominated as President for the coming year
- Ian Homewood was voted ‘Barbershopper of the Year’
