Wayfarers at Cancer Research UK Fundraiser
On Sunday April 14, The Wayfarers Chorus performed along with the National Young Musician of The Year, Angelina Dorlin-Barlow, at a charity dinner organised by the North West region of Cancer Research UK.
The Wayfarers Chorus opened the entertainment, performing a variety of songs from our repertoire before Angelina took over to give a virtuoso solo performance. Following this, Wayfarers Chorus returned and performed three more numbers, culminating in ‘Do You Hear The People Sing’, from ‘Les Miserables’. It is one of our most recent songs and always gets a great reception from the audience.
After the Wayfarers’ second set, Angelina sang one more song, bringing the audience and several of the chorus members almost to tears with her rendition of ‘Bring Him Home’, also from ‘Les Miserables’.
Finally, Wayfarers Chorus and Angelina joined forces to send the audience home with a thoughtful performance of ‘Irish Blessing’.
The dinner raised in the region of £1,500, bringing the total raised in the past 12 months by NWCR to approximately £47,000. The Wayfarers Chorus are pleased to have played a small part in the fundraising efforts and wish NWCR well in their future events.
