Birkdale Community Hub Fundraiser

On Friday 17 November Wayfarers Chorus performed at the Birkdale Conservative Club, during an evening of entertainment to raise money towards transforming the old Station Master’s House into a community hub and library.

The evening’s entertainment started with a monologue from Terry Durrance, entitled ‘Times Gone By’.  As the title suggests, Terry reminisced about times past, with plenty of references to the music of the times.  Wayfarers Chorus, at almost full strength, then sang a selection from our repertoire before the interval, including our new song ‘Do You Hear The People Sing’.

Following the break we sang more songs from our repertoire, finishing with the ever popular ‘Sweet Gypsy Rose’.

The evening finished with some real culture, a performance by Olivia Moss who has recently been invited to train at Glyndbourne.  I’m amazed at how such a powerful sound can come from a single person, but come it did and what a range!
